IV. US store won’t ship to Singapore? Choose forwarding or proxy shopping
Many US stores only ship to US addresses or only accept US-issued cards. Here is what to do in each case:
- The store only ships within the US, or international shipping is expensive
→ Use the Buy&Ship US warehouse as your delivery address, and we forward your parcel to Singapore - You’re ordering from several stores
→ Once you declare your parcels, they can wait at our sorting centre for up to 30 days free, so you can consolidate them into one shipment - The store doesn’t accept your card
→ Use proxy shopping: paste the product link and we place the order for you - The store asks for a US phone number
→ Use proxy shopping, and we handle the order - The store redirects you to another region or won’t load
→ Open it in a private window and set the location to the US, or use a VPN (see Part VII)
Amazon US ships internationally, so why use forwarding?
Amazon US ships some items internationally, but direct shipping is not always the best option:
- High international shipping fees
For some items, shipping directly to Singapore costs far more than shipping within the US. - A higher checkout total
The same item can cost much more at checkout when shipped to Singapore than when shipped to a US address. - No international shipping
Some items, such as certain Apple products, only ship to US addresses.
Tip: switch the delivery location at the top of the Amazon page between Singapore and the Buy&Ship US warehouse zip code to compare the checkout total and see whether the item ships. If it doesn’t, send it to the Buy&Ship US warehouse and we forward it. Read our Amazon US delivery guide before you order.
V. Four Black Friday headaches proxy shopping solves
Black Friday deals sell out fast, and the last thing you want is to get stuck at payment or sign-up. Buy&Ship offers proxy shopping from Japan, the US, the UK, Korea and Canada. Send us the product link and we handle the rest.
- Your card is declined
Proxy shopping supports local credit cards, so you don’t have to worry about overseas stores rejecting your card. - The store needs a US phone number or account
Some stores ask for a US number to verify sign-up or checkout. With proxy shopping, Buy&Ship places the order, so you don’t need one. - You can’t read Japanese, Korean or other languages
We handle communication with the seller for you. - Separate parcels from different countries cost more to ship
Proxy shopping orders can be consolidated with your other parcels to save on international shipping.
Proxy shopping service fees start from as low as 6%. See Proxy Shopping for details.
Step 1
Create a shopping order
Submit the product link on the Buy&Ship website or app.
Step 2
Pay for your items
Pay with your local credit card.
Step 3
Ship to Singapore
Your items are sent to a Buy&Ship overseas warehouse and forwarded to Singapore.
VI. How to prepare for Black Friday in four steps
Step 1: Get your overseas warehouse address
Sign up for Buy&Ship first. Most overseas stores don’t ship internationally, and those that do often charge a lot. With a Buy&Ship overseas warehouse address, you can ship your haul to Singapore at a lower cost.
Tip: on Amazon, enter a local zip code for that country’s site to see stock and regional prices. When shopping US stores, use our US tax-free warehouse address as the delivery address, and read our Amazon US delivery guide before ordering on Amazon.
Step 2: Make a shopping list
Whether you’re new to overseas shopping or not, browse your favourite stores early, sign up, save your delivery address, and add items to your wishlist. Stock is limited, so being ready lets you check out as soon as the sale starts.
Follow these channels for Black Friday deal updates:
- Buy&Ship Shopping Tips
- Buy&Ship Singapore Facebook Page and Group
- Our newsletter and app push notifications
Step 3: Compare prices
- Check the brand’s official stores in different regions. Discounts are often bigger, stock is better, and the products are genuine.
- Look for stacked discounts on multi-brand stores, such as 24S and Nordstrom Rack for bags, or Lookfantastic and Sephora for beauty.
- Want to see an Amazon item’s lowest price history? Learn how to use Keepa.
Step 4: Have more than one card ready
Most overseas stores accept cards issued by local banks, but some don’t. Use a card that has worked on overseas sites before, and raise your limit in advance. If you’d rather skip all that, use Buy&Ship proxy shopping and pay with your local card.
💡 Card declined or order cancelled? Try these
Option 1: try another card.
Option 2: use an American Express card.
Option 3: some stores only accept PayPal, so set up a PayPal account in advance and switch to it if your card is declined.
If several attempts fail, switch to Buy&Ship proxy shopping and we place the order for you.
VII. More tips: prohibited items, browsing limits, scams and returns
1. Check prohibited items before you order
Check what a product is made of before you buy. Restrictions vary by overseas warehouse, so the same item may be accepted at one warehouse and not another. See the Prohibited Items List for details.
2. Check free shipping thresholds
Most stores offer free domestic shipping during Black Friday. Check the conditions before paying: some need a minimum spend and some need a promo code.
3. Browsing foreign-language and region-locked sites
- If a site has no English version, the Google Translate extension for Chrome can translate the whole page.
- Some US sites only work on a US connection and may redirect you or fail to load.
Option 1: open the site in a private window and set the location to the United States.
Option 2: use a US VPN. Choose a secure, paid VPN to protect your details at checkout. See our VPN recommendations.
4. Watch out for fake Black Friday sites
- A web address that is one or two letters off the real brand, or prices far below normal, are signs of a fake site.
- Go through the brand’s official site or app, and don’t pay through links in unknown ads, text messages or emails.
- Check the address starts with https, and pay with a protected method such as a credit card or PayPal.
5. Check sizes, warranty and returns before you order
- Overseas size charts may differ from local sizing, so check the size chart first, or try the item on in a local store.
- Electronics warranties may only cover the country of purchase, so check the brand’s warranty terms.
- Returns to overseas stores usually have to be sent back to that country, so read the store’s returns policy before you order.
VIII. Five reasons to ship your Black Friday haul with Buy&Ship
- Warehouses across the world, consolidated into one shipment
Buy&Ship has overseas warehouses in the US, Japan, the UK, Canada, Italy, Korea, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and more, covering the main Black Friday shopping destinations. Order from different stores and consolidate your parcels into one shipment to Singapore. - Charged by actual weight, so bulky boxes cost less
Shoe boxes and coats take up a lot of space, which pushes up the price with forwarders that charge by volumetric weight. As long as your parcel meets our size limits, Buy&Ship charges by actual weight, so you can estimate the cost before you check out. See our shipping rates. - 30 days’ free storage at our sorting centre
During Black Friday, most people order from several stores at different times. Once your parcels reach our sorting centre, they can wait there for up to 30 days free while the rest arrive. Overseas warehouses do not store parcels, so declare each parcel within 30 days of it arriving. - A US warehouse in a tax-free state
Most US states charge sales tax, usually around 6% to 10% including local taxes. Our US warehouse is in a tax-free state, so orders shipped there usually skip that tax. - Free basic protection, with extra cover for valuable items
Every Buy&Ship parcel comes with free basic protection. For valuable items, add Buy&Ship Plus to raise the cover for loss and damage.
