#THEMOMLIFE

12th April 2018

If you noticed, this week we have been releasing articles in preparation for Mother’s Day. We wanted to give as much props and support to these women who didn’t know that the workload that comes with birthing just one human being was equivalent to having 5 full-time jobs for life. They are chefs, chauffeurs, counsellors, caregivers, and cheerleaders.

And yet they still do it all willingly, with no pause button.

So this time we wanted to focus on the new moms; the ones that got thrown into the deep end of the pool not knowing what they signed up for. With some experience, we’ve narrowed down 5 items that would make life a little easier in the little years.

THE SOLLY BABY WRAP

Parenting definitely keeps your hands full, but who says you can’t do it hands-free? As a new mom (or dad) the first thing you have to figure out is how to hold your baby and keep her safe while moving about. Babywearing is all the rage now, and Solly Baby Wrap makes learning how to do it so easy. They use Lenzing Modal for all their wraps, which is so buttery soft and breathable, perfect for the hot and humid climate in Singapore. Some of us have tried it and we love how baby feels so close to us when she’s in the wrap, and babies love it too because it keeps them close enough so they can hear your heartbeat, like how they are used to when in your womb. And have we mentioned it keeps your hands free?

THE BOPPY PILLOW

You may not think it necessary to get a nursing pillow, the very idea seems to be a waste of money. But believe us when we say that your back will thank you. What you don’t realize is that you’d be spending countless hours sitting up nursing the baby. And when you’re already suffering from the severe lack of sleep, the support you’d get from a nursing pillow would be a great relief. Don’t even get us started on the cluster feeds, it’s as if the baby would never leave your boob. There are many nursing pillows available in the market, but we find that there are none as versatile as the Boppy Pillow. Once you get the hang of feeding baby, use it as a tool for tummy time, or as a support when she’s learning to sit by herself. Some toddlers even still use it for a pillow!

THE DOCKATOT

Let’s talk about sleeping arrangements. Or rather, the lack of sleep that hits all new moms. In your nesting phase, all you wanted to do was set up the perfect nursery so baby has a room to call her own. But one month in, all you want to do is keep baby as close as possible just so you can sleep 15 seconds more. 15 seconds you’d otherwise spend running to her room when she cries. But space is scarce in the rooms of Singapore apartments so you can’t really fit a whole cot next to you. Which is why we think the Dockatot is the perfect solution for tired moms. You can leave baby in this little “nest” next to you on the bed and you won’t have the fear of rolling over her. Plus, it’s completely portable! So she can sleep in it next to you in the living room while you’re getting some me-time.

THE PORTABLE CHANGING STATION

One of the first major milestones you’ll experience with your baby is when she starts flipping on her own. That’s when you know all those tummy time sessions are starting to pay off! But the moment they start flip-flopping here and there is also when you start developing the fear of them falling off the bed or changing table. We came across this simple product that may help the mom who has too many things to do at one go when she brings baby out. This portable change station comes with a contraption that helps keep baby on her back. The flap that goes across and above her also comes with some loops so you can easily clip some of her favourite toys so she’s kept occupied while you do the dirty business of keeping her bum clean.

THE LOLLIPOP CAMERA

Before you know it, your little one will be sleeping through the night. That’s when you can finally reclaim your bed and transfer her to her own room. Yet, being moms, we can’t help but worry all the time. Some moms feel they need to constantly check on their kids to make sure they are breathing without obstructions in their cots. The Lollipop Camera makes that part of sleep training easier. The app you use with it even helps you monitor their breathing patterns so you can know for sure if something is out of the ordinary, without risking waking them up by going to their rooms. Our favourite feature is the “tail” of the lollipop camera that wraps around basically ANYTHING so you can ensure you get a good angle of the entire room. It also doesn’t hurt that they come in cute colours!

What do you think? Are these products going to help give you some peace of mind while enjoying the little years?

Don’t forget that we’ve extended our promotion of $3 per pound of shipping, so it’s no better time to get your shop on and save money!
