FLOWERS THAT COME TO LIFE

1st March 2018

We may not have the luxury of the four seasons, but spring in fashion is still eagerly looked forward to not only because we get more wearable clothes that suit the signature Singapore heat, but also because there always seems to be a sense of renewal in colours and overall looks.

This year, it seems that the trend of embroidery doesn’t seem to be dying out, and with good reason. Embroidery usually comes with things that speak of life and colour, like flowers.

So here are a few pieces we saw that really took to our fancy from a few favourite merchants.

FOR MUSIC FESTIVALS

Free People has always been a label that brings in clothes that appeal to the boho-chic, and it always comes with a bit of an edge of daring.
This cropped top, brightly embroidered with orange and yellow dahlias, is perfect for layering for a weekend exploration look, or just worn on its own as a top for a music festival at Fort Canning.

FOR THE OFFICE

Who says office wear has to be boring? You can bring your own kind of quirky (which is what Modcloth is best known for) to your desk when you wear this black lace and tulle number with brightly embroidered flowers. Think of it as formal with a bit of fun! Or if this isn’t your style, accessorize with this fun shaped bag.

FOR SATURDAY BRUNCH

Think flirty florals and comfy casuals, paired with a mimosa or two. Think Singapore’s own edition of SATC.

Your can pair this sheer Winifred Floral Top so many ways, with a white skirt, with jeans, or even a pair of well cut shorts. Either way you’d come out of it looking effortless.

If you want a little bit more fun, this Spring Melody Tulle Skirt might be more up your alley. Depending on your brunch location you can either dress it up or down.

FOR THE BEACH VACATION

One-piece swimsuits have totally come back in fashion. They provide a touch of class for lounging next to the pool, and look almost like a complete outfit when paired with the right sarong or beach cover-up.

This yellow one-piece with white embroidered flowers from Urban Outfitters can look like a low back spaghetti strap if worn with shorts.

Same for this colourfully fun light denim swimsuit from Modcloth, we envision this will go well under a sheer kaftan for some fun under the sun (cocktails optional).
